White Flowers

White flowers have a lot of varied meanings. However, it is good to note that the meanings they do hold tend to be pretty strongly associated with the flowers within each particular situation. The type of flower, the reason it is being presented, and the culture in which it is being presented are all big influences on what it symbolizes.

There is something of a simple beauty to white flowers and white in general which offers widespread appeal. This shade is often viewed as being in absolute contrast to black. For instance, people talk about viewing things in black and white as opposed to grey. The symbology of presenting white blooms tends to also deal with absolutes, or hopes of absolutes.

Innocence, humility, and reverence are a few things which white flowers may represent. They are seen during weddings to honor modesty and purity. They are also seen during funerals as a return to the more absolute. The association with perfection and wholeness makes them great symbols for both beginnings and completions.
