Fresh flowers can have a longer life encouraged through different methods. These methods include simple care steps to encourage their health. A person can also add length to fresh flower life by selecting species which last long and selecting individual flowers within a species that are at the most ideal stage.

Some basic tips for longer lasting fresh flowers changing their water daily. Some species may even benefit from having water changed twice a day. Another basic tip is to remove all the leaves existing at the water level. This is because such leaves will begin to decompose.

Fresh flowers will last for different amounts of days. For instance, Lisianthus and Liatris flowers last about ten days, while Dahlias and Irises will only last about a week. On the other hand, Carnations, Baby's-Breath, and Strawflowers can easily last longer than ten days.
